Pauley Summer Program

Steve Pauley ’62

The Pauley Summer Program is a collaborative research program at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB), located in picturesque Coconut Island in Oahu, Hawaii, and made possible by the Edwin W. Pauley Foundation. Each year, a given lab will sponsor the program, organize the primary research project(s), and oversee the invitation of international participants. Through the generous support of Pomona alumnus Dr. Stephen M. Pauley (right), the program invites the participation of 1-2 Pomona students per year. The typical duration of the program is 6-7 weeks.

Eligibility: Any Pomona student with a declared major in the life sciences is eligible to apply. Eligible majors comprise Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Analysis, PPA/Biology, Molecular Biology, and Neuroscience. Priority will be given to students with professional interests and relevant course experience in the program area. Expenses, including travel, meals, and room and board, are covered by the program.

  1. a statement of interest in the program theme, its relevance to your professional career goals, and your academic preparation for the program
  2. a current Curriculum vitae

  4. the names of two faculty from Biology or other natural science departments who can provide letters of recommendation.

Completed applications should be submitted to Dr. Jonathan Wright.
